Novel Ideas

Fellowship Events
Sat, 27 Jan 2018 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Do you enjoy reading great works of literature? Ever think about how Christian authors have expressed their faith in great novels?  If you’d like to get together with others in the church to explore how Christianity has influenced the great works of Western literature, please join us for a new study group, Novel Ideas, in which we’ll be looking at the works of great Christian authors. Novel Ideas is meant for anyone in the church aged 16 and over.  We plan to meet about once a month in Mekeel Hall, 6:30 to 8:30pm on weekend evenings throughout the Sept to May school year, and maybe in summer if it works.  Our first “text” book will be Miniature and Morals, by Peter Leithart, to spark discussion about how the famous author Jane Austen wrote from a distinctly Christian point of view.  We’ll serve tea and desserts and have fireside discussions in the Mekeel Parlor. We plan to conclude our meetings around 8:00 pm so that we can share prayer requests and pray, and thereby get to know and support each other more deeply.  Join us for our first meeting, January 27th, at 6:30 pm.
