On behalf of the Caring Committee, we invite those who are interested in joining the church or who want to learn more about First Presbyterian Church to consider attending the Church Introduction Class.  This class is usually held twice a year during the Sunday school hour for people ages 14 and up.  If you’d like to find out more about First Pres., this is a good class to attend.

Joining the church is an important step in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ that connects you to the local body of believers.  In the class, you will learn such things as….what do Presbyterians believe?  What does it mean to be a Christian?  What is the history of First Pres.?  What is the Westminster Confession of Faith and why is it important?  What is the system of church government we adhere to?  What is tithing?  Is stewardship important?  Why is Missions so important?  What are my spiritual gifts?  How does a church this size care for its people?  What are the various ministries the church offers?  How can I become more involved in the spiritual life here at First Pres.?  How can I become a member of First Pres?  Why join a church anyway?

Please join us to learn more about the church.  We promise not to pressure you to join, but we do promise that you will get to know us in a casual, relaxed way.  After the class, you may choose to join the church right away or wait.  That decision will be up to you.

The Church Intro class is taught by our elders and pastor(s).  Please contact our pastor or Caring Committee elders through the church office (518-374-4546 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to sign-up for the class or if you have any questions.

We look forward to having you join us for the next class!
