In Acts 2:42, the writer reminds us, “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship”.  Later, in verse 46, he adds, “And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people.  And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

The Home Group ministry is preparing to begin in September.  With that in mind, please consider being a part of this wonderful ministry.

There are three things highlighted in the passage above.  One is the reminder that fellowship of believers is important.  There are times in our lives when getting together with other believers to study God’s Word and pray for one another is vitally important.  Some of the Home Groups will be discipleship groups for Christians to grow together in the Lord.  Often this becomes most effective when a meal or dessert is shared around a time of fellowship.

The third thing that is highlighted above refers to another type of Home Group.  This Fall, Lord willing, we would like to launch some Home Groups that are outreach focused.  The model we would like to use is for 3 to 5 mature Christians to meet in a home for a meal and a Bible study.  The vision is for these believers to prayerfully invite people who do not regularly attend a church.  The goal will be to invite neighbors, co-workers or friends and build relationships with them as they study God’s Word together.  The series that will be used is called Christianity Explored, which uses the book of Mark to guide people to consider who Jesus Christ really is.

At this point, the most important thing we can do is pray.  Ask God to show you what He wants you to do this Fall, as you think about reaching people for Jesus and inviting them to have a living relationship with the Master. Choose Courses and follow the links to Christianity Explored to find out more about this exciting way to bring the gospel to the people you already know in your circle of influence.

At this point, contact Neal Cummings, Caring Committee Chairman, if you’d like to be a host, or group leader at This email address is being protected from spambots.
